mr magoo
just readings ceph post about the runaway stella brought back some memories from the past a long while back,in my fishingclub we have a European vs Aussie fishing day the plan was to fish the harbour then chase kings in the bay got to five dock boat ramp launch the boat ,the boat bottoms out coming off the trailer not good but soon forget about it to early for the jews so have a fish for bream snare a couple ,tides about right for jews so up anchor and try to get moving boats real heavy wont plane severe list oh no were taking water put it on the trailer realized ripped the bung off when launched took almost an hour to drain boat 6mm bung ,my fishing buddy lets call him maguiver makes a bung from the cork covering the gaff ,im stressed so beg him for a smoke having given up a couple off years back ,take two drags and throw up (told you) relaunch carefully, turn the colour video sounder on to find our jewie spot, very blurry screen cant make sense of it ,again push on hour later maguiver has a 5kg jew onboard and i get a run and hit it hook pulls bring back bait both hooks embedded in squid head ,thats it not happy time to fish the bay ( we had been getting a few kings at the hot water in the bay at night,On arrival at the boat ramp at five dock we were pushing the boat to the trailer and heard a large thud ,broke the transducer clean off the hull, again push on arrive at the hot water in the bay about midnight and hookup almost immediately ,on two kilo my fish is doing laps around the boat i go to hop up on the bow and clean ripp off the fluro light up front ,and then it starts bucketing down so I'm absolutely soaked to the bone by the time i land that king,a southerly comes through moving us of the mark so go to start engine, flat battery no dramas have another turns out thats flat too ,so we take the lid off and pull start it,when the engine fired the kings came to the boat ,the whole school,so while the engine charged up i thought id have to get my NEW fly rod out with all these kings over a sand bottom ,so i rigged up ,back cast got tangled in the rods on the rack somehow managed to flick it from there straight into the spinning flywheel , i tried to snap off the leader /flyline by clamping the spool with my hand ,funny how much reach a 9 foot graphite 8weight has, well that was the end of that rod well i nearly necked me self then and there ,after some counciling went on to catch and tagg a heap off kings that night ,that mornig not 2 minutes after saying what else can go wrong ,the engine dropped a cylinder and we putted home sold that boat arman

jewgaffer
Hi Mr Magoo. That is a very funny post and a good read. Very typical of a day of having shambles one after another on the water. It's amazing how problems multiply when you can get onto the wrong foot during a fishing session and everything you do to correct it causes a much bigger problem and staying calm leads to tearing your hair out to the point of throwing your best mate overboard or something. I've had days which would make Mr Magoo and Mr Bean look like experts. Funny post mate Reading that calamity makes the rainy weather up here in Forster at the moment brighten up a bit. Still the fishing tomorrow looks pretty good to me with more good rain, but this time there's an easterly change overnight forcast. We'll be in the wet weather gear in excellent water on daybreak and we'll be in there with a good chance of scoring well I reckon. Cheers Arman Regards jewgaffer
