Old Mans Hat Saturday 12th

Went down to Old Mans Hat on Satuday arvo for another blackie and drummer session hoping for a repeat of last weekend's effort.

First few hours were VERY slow. Hooked up a to a couple but they spat the hook.

After several hours I finally hooked up to a nice drummer and managed to keep it connected only for it to bury me in the kelp right at my feet with the rod doubled over.

So I grabbed the drummer outfit only to catch a keep blackfish shortly after.

With things so quiet I thought I'd give some fresh peeled prawns ago. I threw them into a nice bit of wash, and what do ya know, I caught a few small drummer between 10 and 20cm long. I have never caught small drummer off there using weed so I can only assume the small drummer prefer a bit of protein to greens whilst the older bigger drummer don't mind their greens or a bit of meat if they can get to it before the littlins.

Anyway I plan to stick with the weed and the drummer outift exclusively this weekend, I'm not even going to take the blackfish outift.
