Luringbream
Hey, How many raiders keep a diary or fishing log of all there outings? I keep telling myself that i will, but just never find the time. I know of many diving logs that are computer-based which seem fairly easy to use, does anyone have something similar to this set up for fishing? yakfishing
Yep I keep a log. I just use a MS excell spreadsheet and type in all the info, you can lay it out nice like tide one collumn and bait another collumn etc, mines pretty messy tho! Ive also got a list of every legal catch + size Ive gotten since I started fishing. I reckon its fun and its cool looking back and seeing how many fish youve gotten and seeing as you get better the sizes increasing.
Dalucius
That is fantastic Yakfishing! I wish we did, I only remember about starting a log after the days info has left my mind. Now Luringbream has brought the idea back to my mind I'llstart it this year. I guess it's like wiper blades you only remember to renew them when it rains. Thanks Dan
bolan
My uncle has been keeping a log for well into 30 years. He often refers to it when going out. I tell you, its a bloody good read ! Cheers Stumpy
frankp
This sounds real interesting. I would love to look up my previous catches and the details of the catch, would keep things exciting.

Flick me your email addy Luring bream, I have one I made up a fair while ago on excel, very basic and info can be (tailored) to suit your style of fishing. squizzytaylor@optusnet.com.au Geoff

Thanks Dan technically speaking theres a few that arent on the list as I caught them when I was a kid and I cant even remember getting them, but they were assisted anyway. I only count a true catch if Ive tied knots, rigged, baited, cast, played etc all on my own, so all of those ones are on the list. its only about 4 - 5 years worth as I only got back into it that long ago, but the list keeps getting bigger and bigger, and I love looking back and remembering the catches. I also try and find patterns between the catches, but it can be pretty random a lot of the time. You can also do a simple calculation to work out the average size of the fish youve caught. All adds to the fun.
