yakfishing
Had a quick little session down at my park this arvo as I havent had time this weekend to get the yak out (nor last weekend mind you) and have been itching to christen my new estuary setup and try out the infamous gulps for the first time (only tried squidgies so far). First few casts and the lure was already being ripped to shreds by everything in the water and I can tell jeez the fish love that juice. Not much for a little bit and I stopped and had a good conversation with a fellow fisho passing by. He moved on and first couple of cast comes up a little under flatty, so popped him back. A few more casts later saw some splashes at the surface so did a med retrieve thru the spot - in comes a chopper tailor. And not too long after that bingo bango a legal flatty of 39 who was shaking his head like crazy right the way in. A nice little session all while watching the storm clouds build up on the horizon. So gulp are gonna make a bit of money out of me I think. I spooled up my reel with braid too now and I love the stuff the lure action is better, casting is better the feel is better. Cant wait to give it all a go in the yak!
Mrs Stumpy
I love your set up for fishing. Not only do you get the exercise but enjoy the simple pleasure and relaxation of fishing. Love the flat head and enjoy the soft plastics myself. Am new to them myself.
yakfishing
I love your set up for fishing. Not only do you get the exercise but enjoy the simple pleasure and relaxation of fishing. Love the flat head and enjoy the soft plastics myself. Am new to them myself. just imagine the high you get when you catch a fish. Double that and thats what its like fishing from a yak because all the exercise releases more serotonin in your brain resulting in a HUGE buzz, its fantastic! And no noisy engine to distract from the serenity of the outdoors! Edited January 20, 2008 by yakfishing
gretsch
Gulps are great. I use both Gulps and Squidgies. I find that the Gulps get smacked by everything from Jackets to Kings. The Squidgies don't seem to get attacked by the pickers as much.. maybe this has to do with the lack of juice!!! Although, I had some of that S Factor paste and the fish went beserk. Lures were coming back filleted!!
