arron
G,DAY ALL.......HAVE BEEN THROWING VARIOUS SOFT PLASTICS LAND BASED OF THE BEACHES WITHIN THE BAY OF LATE AND HAVE HAD SOME SUCCESS LANDING PLENTY OF LEGAL FLATTIES, PINKIES AND EVEN RAN INTO A SCHOOL OF JUVENILLE KING FISH (90% SURE, NO PICS, 25 CM APPROX, THIN, GREEN BACK, DARK TAIL WITH SHARP LOOKING LITTLE TEETH).... I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO POST A PIC WITH THIS POST (?) AND IF IT WORKS YOUR LOOKING AT MY PERSONAL BEST FLATHEAD THAT PUT UP A GREAT FIGHT ON 6 POUND LINE,, SHE HAD ME A LIITLE WORRIED WITH SOME OF HER RUNS AND HEAD SHAKES,,,, AT ONE STAGE I HAD HER ALL OF 2 METRES IN FRONT OF ME STARRING ME IN THE EYE WHEN SHE DECIDE TO GIVE THAT TAIL A FLICK AND TOOK OF FOR ONE LAST RUN,, GREAT FUN..........THE WHOLE TIME ALL THAT WAS GOING THROUGH MY HEAD WAS "HAVE I LIPPED HER OR HAS SHE SWALLOWED IT AND IF SHE DID IS MY LEADER BEING GROUND AWAY BY HER TEETH" SO I TICKLED UP THE DRAG AND TRIED TO END THINGS AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE.... yakfishing
Nice job there mate perfect eating size flatty. I love their headshakes they really go off especially on plastics I find. Sounds like you got some small kingies and looks like you got a numbfish too. Theyll zap you if their charged up, but I think they usually exhaust their electricity in the fight (which is like a sack of crap). I put my hand on one diving once and got a decent shock. Just looking at your photos, I'd keep your rod out of the sand mate itll last a lot longer. Edited January 25, 2008 by yakfishing
jenno64
Hey Aaron, Well done on the flatty ...those other critters sound like pike or tailor. Are you fishing around Yarra Bay and on the north side of the bay? Cheers, Rob
