luderick59
used my 5144 snyder that i built last year for big blackies in rough seas this morn using dark weed pulled 3 good size blackies the rod has heaps of butt power and very flexy tip nice feel on the biggest blackie hooked into a large drummer thought it would be over in seconds but my rod was doing a great job handling its dives and headshakes had him up at my feet at one stage but the backwash took him back in waited for the next wave and line snapped above hook great fun on 6lb line and the new rod the fight took about 5 mins saw him at my feet roughly 3kgs any way got to be happy with 3 blackies for aust day bbq happy aust day to you all peter
jewgaffer
Sounds like a top rod Peter. That's one of the original Butterworth blank types isn't it ? Certainly would make a nice flathead rod for whipping the bait out and a soft cushiony beach rod as well ay Cheers jewgaffer
arpie
Congrats on your top results, Peter! Your rod sounds terrific! I love those rods - am always keeping my eye open for one in garage sales & junk shops! Shame the biggie got away ...... seas should be backing off here soon, so hope to try the rocks again in the next day or so! Plenty of cunje being washed up over the last couple of days. The fish will be on soon! Cheerio Roberta
Wassa
Sorry, but I aqm an old fashioned luderick fisherman at 54 YO and you can't beat bthose old blanks.. Before anyone picks me up, I know I am unpolitcally correct but when I was born and raised they were blackfish, and all thru my youth they were blackfish and the people I speak to, of my age still call em blackfish. Be that all they are Luderick, Blacfish or whateever, THEY ARE GREAT FISH!!!!!!!
