IWANNABROCK Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Had a brain wave at 7:30 tonight, the cloud's had broken up, was time to fish, loaded boat up and left home about 8:30 to launch at Hawkesbury river, ramp just off f3 freeway, launched boat, engine not starting like normal , should have taken that as a sign few more pull's finally went, buggered from pulling the 25hp beast over. Made it 200 metre's toward's road bridge's, motor died. dropped anchor, threw piece of mullet out, changed plug's in motor, still up the duff figured out carby was flooding, pulled carby off needle and seat stuck, freed up needle, caught two stinking cat fish, that was my night. still beat's working.

jewgaffer Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Hi IWANNAJEWY Good to see you keen enough to get out there on the spur of the moment like that !!! ..... Did you only stay around the road bridge pylons handy to the Mooney side because of your motor playing up? .... Didn't get a chance to anchor near the Sydney side did you?..... There's thirty into forty feet of water near the first pylon on that side and eighty to a hundred metre meters back from the road bridge on the Sydney side has been a very popular area for jew on the run out. Whereas the non descript bottom areas on the Mooney side have been a haven for catfish even in good water and they become very prolific in dirty water...... They are obnoxious to other fish with their creep up, sting and kill nature and they tend to take certain areas over for themselves. The seventies saw an influx of specialist fishermen who anchored back from the pylons on the mooney side and as far as I'm concerned they can deep fry as many catfish as they like, the more the better! They ought to pay a bounty on their bowels. Cheers jewgaffer
IWANNABROCK Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 Hi, jewgaffer. I wanted to head straight off boat ramp to across other side as I found a hole there a while ago, which I caught a little soapy in, but only made it about half way across when the night went pear shaped, anchored were I stopped. still was nice for some alone time, hopefully next time I will have more success
IWANNABROCK Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 The carpark had around dozen or so trailer's. even when I left at around 2:30am there were still a few out. I will be at drag's next week for sure.
