gofshn Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Snapper on Plastics Fished down the far south coast where my neice and her husband live. we have been fishing for many years together all up and down the coast and have many unforgetable trips, and this was one of them. Well all the planets must have been in line this day, up early 4am then on the water by 4.30am we made our way over to a bommie and around the breakers, the first couple of hours was zero. But as soon as the sun hit the water a long cast was rewarded with our first snapper. These snapper can bust you up real quick in shallow water as we found out around 6 bust offs on freight trains that would not be turned and mind you we are using Barra Gear, 30lb Braid & 30lb to 40lb flurocarbon leaders. We landed 9 snapper to 4.25kg (77cm), 1 salmon 2.85kg (60cm) and 1 bream (35cm) All caught on Berkley Gulps 5 inch Shad. Snap Edited February 20, 2008 by snap

rizzo Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 great catch there snap and i also see you like to use quality gear when fishing how was that saltiga 3500 game to use? also what GLX loomis was it match with cause it looks a pearler of an outfit
gofshn Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 Yeah thanks rizzo. The outfit belongs to my mate who i fish with. Good gear but still getting busted off. My gear was the Team Diawa 2500 loaded with 30lb braid and a team diawa rod. plenty good enough for catching Barr Like the 95cm one my wife landed on this outfit Lake Monduran. I bought her a diawa 3500HD matched with a 15kg Rapala rod, But know she wanted the bream Rod. Who was i to argue she kicked my ass. Last time i mentioned were i got them, there was 10 boats there the next day. So excuse me if i dont give the location were we caught the snapper. Snap

I only really fish up there now between late March and late October so May sounds good. See how I go as it gets closer. Is it an outdoor activity for the Seabees? I'll maybe catch you at the next bream social and have a chat. cheers Hooky
