Farming The Water

Farmers who work the land take good care of the land, and plan ahead. They also seed their crops. Why cant pro fishing be the same? Why should we take without giving back? Especially the by-catch...

Should there not be a rule where for every fish that is caught, bycatch or otherwise, a fingerling has to be put back to seed the water? Fisheries would manage this, and i guess it would have to be done by statistical estimation... it would push the price up of local fish, but hey...

Its really the fisheries mgmt that is at the core of the blame here, not showing any decent leadership on the matter. The pros pay there way through their licenses, and the fisheries know what goes on in terms of bycatch etc...

with you there on the pro's,went out to the harbor tuesday early there were dead leathery's every were, from blue fish point to south head.i hate the little buggers but what a waste.i do'nt know were they were dumped, between the heads on there way in i suppose.here's an idea 1;get rid off the river cats from gladesville back to parra[that will stop the sturrup of dioxions and heavy metals layed down from the early days]give the breeding ground for sydney harbor a chance to do its job, clean the water[mangroves]provide shelter for fish fry.that would be a good start.
