jewgaffer
Hi Robbie. Tasmanian devils are still known as THE lure for trout. They are reliable mate. I hope you do well down there. Is your Dad going with you? Cheers jewgaffer
King slayer
I've had the most success with a little yellow spinner, it was a wooden tube with black dots and a metal spinning tail thing with a yellow feather as well (sorry for the funny description, don't know what it's called). Only ever caught trout in shallow streams though e.g. Thredbo river and others. The Tassies never came through, but every one goes on about them. The one I was using looks a bit like those yellow grass hoppers that are everywhere in summer around the streams. Good luck, I'd love to get up there before the season ends this year. Jewhunter
Don't forget to take the ever reliable black & green or black & red celtas in size 2 or 3. Many a Trout have fallen to those. Cheers, Grant.
Hodgey
Don't forget to take the ever reliable black & green or black & red celtas in size 2 or 3. Many a Trout have fallen to those. Cheers, Grant. The spinner King Slayer describes sounds a lot like the old dixon(?) lures. Tubular spotted body with a feather on the treble matching the color of the body. Blade was perforated to increase noise. Was very success on trout and redfin back in the late 70s/early 80s. You and your bloody turtlebacks, Robbie! Why not! Good luck mate and look forward to your report! arpie
Hi Robbie You can even try putting the Tassie Devil on 'backwards' (thin bit facing the reel) and it gives it a much sloppier wobble - I think you can actually troll faster with it, too ...... or was it slower .... I know I caught 2 trout on the backwards Tassie devil at Buckenderra a few years back. Cheers Roberta
