Parra River 16/3/08

Nice day out on the water yesterday breaming with my brother Craig.

Fishing Marinas all day, he got one on his first cast, which was to be a good sign for the rest of the day. The bream were there in numbers just about everywhere we went, albeit lacking a little in size. Having said that there were some good fish mixed in amongst them - I copped a roasting 2 or 3 times and managed a 37.5cm fork length fish early in the afternoon. Also managed a nice trevally that fought surprisingly like a wet sock.

Once the sun came up, it put the fish down a bit, but they were still there, with quite a number of hookups resulting in the rest of the school following to the boat. And as always, the bigger fish seem to be holding tighter into the structure.

Hey Greg

Good to see you got into them.

We started fishing marinas but left them to go look for surface fish.....

Broke the rule of "never leave fish to find fish".........

The surface didn't fire as it was like glass over the other side of the harbour.

Monday I stuck to the Parra. The wind was up and the fish went nuts.

Dropped in very late morning and as soon as the tide started up again the fish turned on.

Great to see the Parra starting to show some of it's former glory.

its true what you say about the big ones holding in close,

i was fishing a wharf in parra river the other day and around a pylon was about 15+ bream holding up tightly packed together with the bigger ones 30cm+ holding in the prime spots in really close and tight to structure,

however i couldnt get them to take any lures and didnt have any bait to try, i was throwing micro bass minnows unweighted, finesse head, and also small squidgee wrigglers rigged the same ways,

ended up just leaving them which was a bit frustrating,

but yeah theres plenty of bream around, nic3 fish too well done. :1fishing1:

CaineS, yeah I've seen it. I got a bit of a surprise when my brother showed me. It was caught when I did a charter with a well known Sydney operator. It was my first jewie and likely to be a while before I manage to top that...

Roberta, the trevally surprised me at how little line it pulled. At first I thought it was a flatty because all I was getting were a few headshakes and weight. Wasn't until it saw the boat that it took a few runs.

Jorge, forecast is for a bit of wind tomorrow. Hope you don't get blown away. I can't get out till Sunday when I take the kids out for a flick. Hope the rain gets them fired up in IC - easiest place to fish with the kids. Probably head out monday too, but we'll see how we go.

Cheers, Greg
