humesy Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) Howdy, This is a novice boaty question. There is a boat I have casually looked over in the swap and sell section. It is 4.8m long and a fibreglass hull. My current boat is 4.2 and aluminium. The subaru I drive is pretty taxed when I head up hillls. How much extra weight do you expect I would be pulling? Am I dreaming? Cheers Edited March 19, 2008 by humesy
Flightmanager Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 If your present vehicle is struggling to tow your present boat , it will be really working hard to pull a glass boat of that size. Also take into account the engine , and weight of the trailer. Ross

Its not nice when you see your own boat overtake you in the passenger mirror ! Cheers, Stumpy

Flightmanager Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Hate to admit it , but the Stumpster is right , smaller cars are designed to pull up smaller weights , sticking a 1.5tonne boat and motor is going to be beyond the capabilities of the Rav 4's and the like . Ross
