glennmreid
Fished Wisemans Ferry today with the lovely All was quiet for a while, then we hooked into something big. This thing was peeling the line off and the drag didn't do much to stop whatever it was. After about 15 minutes, it head for straight under the boat and just stayed still. as I was only using a 10lb leader, I couldn't lift or move whatever it was. I am thinking it must have been a big ray, because after the initial run, it just stop moving. In the end, all I was trying to do was pull a heavy weight off the bottom, which eventually snapped the leader. Not long after, I caught a small soapie jew. Nice day out on the water, with not much biting. One thing that did annoy me was the people driving the boats with skiers behind them. I was anchored in a spot was so much water either side of me. Majority of the skiing boats would zoom just past my transom. Not sure some were just ignorant or not. Anyway, still a great day out.
glennmreid
Not a bad effort Glenn and what ramp are you using to fish Wisemans if you dont mind me asking as I would like to get down that way soon Cheers Stewy Hi Stewy, There is a ramp in Wisemans, just before where you get on the ferry(Wisemans Ferry croosing, not Webbs Creek Ferry crossing). The ramp turn off is on the right, just before the ferry. The ramp is a concrete one lane, with a public wharf next to it if you need to tie up your boat. The only thing is parking with a trailer. We had to park on the side of the road on the grass embankment, which was fine as there were only a few cars which were using the ramp. Not a bad ramp, we had to wait for no one to launch. On the return, straight to the ramp, on the trailer and the way we went. Next time I go, i'll take some photos and submit them onto Fishraider. glennmreid
Sounds great Glenn, might do a trip in two boats soon there is a ramp at the mouth of the Colo which we can now use with the 4x4 as it was a bit dodgey in the SS Cheers Stewy Sounds good Stewy.Have to check out the Colo ramp. We replaced our Vectra with a Turbo diesel Jeep Cherokee. so we have the 4 x 4 as well. What a difference!
