gretsch
I have broken my "Shimano Only" rule and picked up a Morethan Branzino. Apart from the powder coated bail arm ( ), this reel is very nice. Lets see how it holds up against some masked bandits this weekend!!! The supplier (Japanese outlet) told me that Daiwa probably won't run them again so, if you were thinking about getting one, you may want to act quickly. I am unsure if this is true therefore, you may want to do your own research.

Davemmm
Silly name. Do they make a "LessThan Branzino" Dave
donjuarez
They're a nice reel, but I've got a lot of fish to catch before I can justify spending that sort of coin on a reel to the I notice there's alot of "Shimano Only" rule makers out there, but my preference is Daiwa all the way. They've got the goods on Shimano at the moment in my eyes... If they discontinue the Branzino, I wonder what they're planning on replacing it with? I'm excitied already... Now to justifying ... Tony Soprano
That's some serious $$$ right there. You'd want to catch some trophy fish with the price of that gear.
hottyscotty
just make sure you don't hit hard surfaces. mines already been chipped. had to put clear paint over to stop paint from further flaking off.its very fragile indeed it was heart breaking too. since then i've been tempted to buy another one to put in the trophy cabinet coz its so beautiful. its like the enzo you just don't wanna drive
gretsch
With my history of tackle loss, I think I would be very silly to invest in the matching rod! They are beautiful rods though...
GregL
With my history of tackle loss, I think I would be very silly to invest in the matching rod! They are beautiful rods though... they are only $200 morethan (hehe) a off the rack beast buster. Better rod for turning inside out than a Miller me thinks and thats from someone with 16 custom Miller sticks! They are cheaper than my customs! More than welcome to come around and check out the Day Breaker rod, mate. Tbh, it's just a bit long at 8'2", but certainly casts unweighted Slug-gos a mile! I hear you on the 8'2".. I like 7-7'6" in a heavier plastic stick. Ceph, it's heavy insofar as it's rated 12 - 20lb (but 20lb would be pushing it, imho). In reality, it weighs about as much as a bream stick.

Hi Dave After using Saltiga rods and steez rods I would have no issue in fishing 20lb braid to the limit on my Day Breaker. I run 20lb sensor braid over my Saltiga Dorado, it's only rated to 16lb. I was pulling up 100kg whalers on it matched with a 3000 exist. Now I just have to hook something decent on the d/breaker.... G
gretsch
I tested the Branzino on a couple of smallish Kings at the weekend. The reel performed well. Smooth as silk and plenty of power. The drag is awesome. This does NOT mean that I will become a Daiwa man!!
