Rocket Launcher

Hi,

I posted recently on some boat modifications. I want to put a rocket launcher style rod rack on the boat, possibly as part of a bimini. I have just realised though that I only have 6 inches of clearance to fit the boat with its current bimini under the carport.

Does anyone have any experience with the cheaper style racks, available from Bias/Whitworths. They go for roughly $170 and the advantage would be that they fold down supposedly.

I have had one of the Bias jobbies for 3 years or so and have found it to be a pisser!!!. Yes it can fold down and compared to some of the other options it has been a bloody good investment.

Hi Andrew another alternative would be to have a chat with the boss at an exhaust muffler shop. They usually have offcuts, a bender and mig welder. The price of having it made up in alloy should not be too expensive. If you happen to strike a good bloke, he may be able to measure up and fit the unit onto your boat, if you supply the hardware. You can always buy protective rod holder inserts at a boat accessories shop.
