If you have another tank, id recommend you remove the planted drift woods and put them in the other tank, or the oscars will tear them to shreds, and i know how much those stupid plants are worth so you probably dont want to have them wrecked!

My mate has kept big oscars for years and he has kept them with planted drift wood, anubius lke the one in the pic. It lasts ok. Most other plants get dug up though. The good thing is they are carnivor's sodon't eat the plants, just move them out of the way as they like to adjust gravel levels constantly.

They are beautiful fish and you can train them to eat from your hand and even jump for food. They're like having dogs in a tank I recon!

I have a good knowledge of oscar behaviour, plants were chosen on past experience and also on advice from my brother-in-law who has 4 very large oscars in a 6ft tank, which includes similar plants.

In general plants attached to driftwood or with long roots systems that can be anchored well(eg-between rocks)are ok.It is mostly plants that are in the gravel that they like to uproot.

I agree with King slayer they are beautiful fish, and each one has their own personality. They have previosly been hand fed by Adrian(kingies till i die),so hopefully it wont take long to get them to adjust so i can hand feed them.

mmmmm i hope you have a good power filter, Oscar's are animals when it comes to feeding. They are great fish as i had 4 in a 800L tank and become very tame, i could "pat" them and they seem to like it.

I now have a 1000L Chiclids tank mounted inside my lounge room wall, all the plumbing is in the garage which tidies up the look.
