choteo
Hi All, I been to South West Rock, Port Stephens, Broken Bay, Jervis Bay, fished the afternoon, the evening, night, first light, all tides, close-in and wide, used all sorts of baits and lures to find nathin, "what's going on out there..." I'm considering on selling the vessel!!! Haven't been to Browns Mountain yet. I'm not gain enough to go out on my own. If anybody is going out that way or wants to make a day of it let me know. I would feel more secure with a 2nd boat present... I hear Browns is "fully sick...", "fully, fully sick...". It's "fully tabuli!!!...bro" Any tips on Browns, getting there, getting back, fishing the place, would be mostly appreciated. Thanx... Kind Regards, El Choteo

allison189
I agree, Nothing wrong at all with those places you have fished. I just returned from SWR. And friends still up there fishing. Not going off, thats for sure. But in 4 or 5 days fishing they have tagged (between 2 boats) about 1 blue, 2 or 3 blacks and 2 or 3 stripes. Also captured several dollies and hoo. Also a few sails, kings and cobes takn up there by other boats. A mate also recently tagged 2 nice marlin off port stephens one a sunday. So they are out there Just havnt arrived in great numbers yet but shouldnt be far off now. WE HOPE lol As for browns. In the right weather you will be fine. We fish norah canyons in our 5.7m with no probs. YET. FINGURES CROSSED. Cheers
Guest bluecod
Choteo, Brown's is about a 45 klm run from Botany - one way, and yes it can be like Pitt Street out there on weekdays, let alone weekends. A couple of things to remember - 27 meg and mobile phones don't connect you to a shore base station - its too far out - VHF works OK. Take plenty of fuel - the run out when its calm takes a bit over an hour and if the weather blows up, the run back home can take a hell of a lot longer [2 to 3 hours] also allow for the extra trolling you'll be doing. If the wind is offshore, its cloudy overcast and there's plenty of smog you will not see any landmarks, this is when a GPS plotter and good compass earn every cent you spend on them. The fishing can be good, but like everwhere else, it can be pretty ordinary as well.
maxjohno
Choteo Me and rekless are heading out to browns this saturday if the weather looks ok ,no problem in tagging along with us if you want, we will be leaving from kyeemagh ramp at about 5 am getting some bait and getting out there with a stop at 12 mile either on the way out there or on the way back. Just give harpoon a call on 94 on the 27 meg. Although just like any other spot it can fire but ive been out there trolled ,cubed ,bottom bashed for zip ( make sure you got a lot of line cause its over 500 mtrs deep) but there are rewards out there. cheers Mark
choteo
Thanx Guys, thank you for your all your input. Will attempt Browns sometime soon. I remember as a boy (15 - 20 year ago) with my K-Mart fishing rod, my farther would take me fishing and we would always manage to catch a feed. Never exceeded what we needed. Now 31 with thousands of $$$ invested in gear + a boat the results are quite bland. What has happen to our cost line...??? Some of you are probably saying "it good to be out on the water". I agree, but wouldn’t it be better/exiting if it was like then... I don't see boats around me pulling fish... Kind Regards, JM Edited January 19, 2005 by choteo

allison189
Hey guys, I live at Swansea and head out from here. Havnt gone out yet when the weather has been great only when its been ok. Travelling at 18-20 knots generally it takes me around 1hr45min. If I leave at 7am and get home about 3.30 I usually go through say 140litres. So not too bad i guess copmpared to some guys fuel bills, lol. Its around 35 miles to get out there. VERY long way in a boat my size if she blows up. My boats name is "THANK THE BANK". So say g'day if any of you guys here me out there. Bloody lonely out there any one to say hi to is nice CHeers Jas!

Seriously though, get into it now mate, because it could be worse in another 15 years. The glass is still half full...
