beachwormer
G'day fishos Wondering if anyone could give me some info on beaches in the SE QLD/NE NSW that have a steep slope/bank with shorey waves? I'm new to the area and just got my lure box sent up from SA...time to hit some gutters! Figured you guys would know best Appreciate any help I get Thanks Dude, I no longer live there, but The beaches to the north of Coffs Harbour (Korora, Sapphire) drop off into deep water. When I lived there I didn't really chase the jewies that hard but caught a few small ones of 2 - 3 kg. But many others made a regular habit of pulling some truly large jew of the beaches there. One weekend I caught a bucket of beachworms and gave them to my friend who used them over the weekend (I went away). He caught 10 jew over 10kg in 3 nights (returning most of them). This was of course one of those rare golden weekends (lucky if he ever repeated that effort), but if you want deep drop-off beaches, then north of Coffs is your go. shortstroker
Hi there hope your settling in up here .Its a little different structure in the beaches up here , they tend to have a longer surf zone and more gradual sloping sand banks when compared to down south. This lends it self to having to get your feet wet casting out further, although with a little scouting you will find good gutters on most beaches that will reward your effort .Another idea would be to target the many breakwalls and coastal headlands along the coast with various fish on the menu such as tailor, salmon or jew fish , just have a very long gaff as retrieving them is sometimes harder than hooking them.Any how good luck and great fishing. Frantic
yep a long gaff is a must off the rocks up towards coffs .my own is a 18ft extendable but i've fitted another piece of pipe which is 8ft that i can take off and on ,so all up its about 25ft + which in some places you need every bit of it .and there plenty of beaches up that way. craig
