Yakkas

is there a particular spot in botany bay where i can catch some yakkas? also what is best method to catch them?

are they good bait for kingfish?

go to the corner of where monlineux breakwater meets the beach.

there is a small reef there with plenty of kelp and seaweed over it.

anchor up and berley , usually there are hundreds of yellowtail there.

live yellowtail are great for kingies.

I found the smaller the yellowtail the better.

I also suggest you go to a well stocked tackle shop and get yourself a good quality 4lb line as

well as some medium shanked light size 16 fly hooks.

these small light hooks are beyond unbelievable in getting you yakkas when they are finicky.

what bait is best to use?

Small peices of prawn, pillie, squid, bread.

Sometimes you can pick up other species such as bream, trevally and squid.

use a size 8 long shank hook and slice pieces a pilly. Burly up first. at the same location as ilk sugested. Cheers and good luck.
