Hi fellow Raiders,

Lumpookey and myself went out on Friday afternoon for a Jew session in middle harbour.

Conditions were good with a high tide hitting at 5.50pm and then a low tide to follow at 23.56pm.

Our plan was to hit it out and fish both tides,we both rugged up to the max with a couple layers of jumpers to keep out the winter chill.

We headed toward the Roseville area and fished just inside the area in 20metres of water, we anchored and had all our lines in the water ready for the first tide change, nothing was showing on the sounder but we had a good berly happening and just waited around for the fish to turn up.

After sitting in this spot for 4 hours none of our squid bait or gar and yellowtail slabs were touched.

My bother Ray managed to catch a small Tailor on a hand line which we trimed the tail and sent back out.

This Tailor swam around for the whole durayion without even a look at.

We decided to move to another spot around 2klms from where we were to fish the low tide and here to we had nothing showing on the sounder and nothing was attracted to our burley, the tailor we had caught earlier was still swimming perfectly with no interest from anything.

We decided to try around Seaforth bluff after the low and once again our baits were not even licked.

We packed up and headed for the boat ramp around 1.20am.

To rap up this is the third night that we have ventured out for no luck, this was another 7 hour session for zilch, however we will keep on trying to catch our long awaited trophy fish.

We used frozen squid which we had caught from a previous trip, I bought fresh gar from the co op and we sent down some slab of yellowtail and tailor which were caught from another fishing session.

As I mentioned the live tailor was not even looked at.

The water was calm the night cold, the company great it would be nice to go out once and catch something descent.

Its very disheartening when you put the hours in and cant even go home with a feed.

Marcel.

Oh Geez Marcel and Ray. All those hours in Middle Harbour and no bites at all except for a retarded tailor on a handline. Just don't know what to think, maybe your handling liquid draino or something ? Might pay to have a change of vocation like repairing septic systems or maybe an odorless job on a conveyer belt boxing dolls eyes ?

Don't worry I'll sort out our Hawkesbury session, it's mainly a matter of when to go more than anything else.

Cheers

Mate you said it! Me and my fishing buddies are in the same position waiting for the jew. We have had three unsuccessful attempts in the last few weeks, but hey some guys try for years. We are doing everything right in theory, as it seems you are also. But they say about jew, even more than any other.. they're on or they're off, no matter what you do, so don't lose heart. I say just enjoy the water and learn what you can. We've had a few go's in the day last week and after no action all day we put out a load of burley in a likely spot and have taken home good little trevally, a flatty and other stuff for bait like pike and big yakkas, even got a 45cm kingy on 10lb gear on a pilly cube. Good fun at least and not a bad consellation.

Anyhow keep it up mate, we will.

Thanks guys for the replys. Yes we will keep on trying for fishing in general is our great passion and my brother and I feel at ease and peace on the water, we would be out there everyday if we could.

Hope you guys land a beauty soon aswell.

Hi Marcel,

I had a very similar jew session last week.

Had fresh squid and a trifecta of livies out for nothing.

Had tailer, yakka and even mullet swimming unmolested for hours.

Managed to get a couple of kings swim around the boat but they werent interested in my offerings.

Jewies seem to be not around in large numbers in MH.

Keep at it guys.

Mike
