dipship
G'day raiders, Just popping you a quick report bout the session we had on sat. Hit the bay, which we we havent done in at least 6 months. Used to be our stock and trade sat spot but moved on to newer grounds with other challenges. We have heard some good reports of jew being caught so we decided to get in on the action and see if we could rustle up some on sp's. Hit the bridges early, so too did half of sydney, but we managed to wrangle our way in to a pylon! Flicked the area with most of the go-to jew lures without a sniff, looks like the jewies have been hit for a while and either moved on or wised up. Either way we were pushin shit uphill! A call was made to chase some flatties to salvage a slow start. While we dropped a few while flickin for jew the bridges didnt seem to have much bait activity so we made a move to ultra shallow water. In the past we have had our best success for lizards in water so shallow the electric even struggles to gain any purchase. Straight away we were greeted with a nice fish. They were lying in about a foot of water amonst the weeds and broken oyster rocks. Flatties in this sort of water seem to have a severe attitude problem and none boated came easily. Even undersize fish gave a spirited account of themselves. As the tide bottomed out the fishing heated up even more. Casting ahead of the boat produced best results but a variety of lures worked, nothing conclusive there. We ended up scoring 23 flatties for the day. Only a couple throwbacks and only 1 fish worthy of a photo as well....it went a modest 59cms, nothing to gloat about but nice anyway. I love this time of year for flatties in the bay. They go shallow to bask in the sun and seem to congregate in bigger schools, it was exactly the same last year looking at my diary! If you want a good feed and catch flatties in need of an attitude adjustment now is the time! Edited May 11, 2008 by krazyman
james7
Nice report krazyman. Twenty three flatties for the day is excellent! Well done. You certainly must know what you're doing. You can't be that "krazy"! Only a couple throwbacks and only 1 fish worthy of a photo as well....it went a modest 59cms, nothing to gloat about but nice anyway. Nothing to gloat about! I disagree, 59cm is great to me, but then again I may have lower standards! What general area of the bay were you fishing the shallows? Around Towra? Well done krazyman Cheers Peter

Its in between woolooware bay and towra point????? just around from the leases. In fact any area in woolooware bay with patchy weed, sand and oyster coverd rocks is prime habitat. The key is ultra light presso's and cast ahead of the boat. Shallow water spooks fish obviously. Run out tide is usually better too. Yeah your right about the 59. I should be more thankful rather than blow it off, as a 59 could actually be a milestone for some.
Steve07
Well done on a hot little flatty session on the plastic's & they do go hard in the ultra shallow water, great fun to target. Good report too!
