Hi Rickb,

Crossed the bar once a couple of years back. It's a bit ugly and the break zone is quite long.

In addition, some people surf in the bar which makes things more difficult.

The local fishing club have a beach launch set up with a tractor at Shelly beach.

Cheers,

Rick

Mate unless your boat is about 6.5 to 7.5m i woundnt risk it as even the pro's get turned over . At the moment lots of sand has built up at the end of the wall and at low tide you can stand on it and the channel is very narrow and swings to the SE .In most guides its NON NAVIGABLE. Better to drive up to coffs there are plenty of spots to the north . if ya need any gps spots for coffs send me a pm.

Craig.

Wow sounds similar to our Currumbin bar, rated the worst on the Gold Coast atm.

Massive sand build up and the council won't do anything about it. :wife:

If the surf is over 2ft its ugly as hell!

Yep Scott's is the best option....in the summer the clubby's tell everyone to get out of the way when a bota come and goes, so it's no so bad....safer than the bar.....

Thanks for your help,Poddy Trapper, the only problem is the head of the club is also the king dick

of the clubby's, and he does not won't the ramp in the corner. cheers rick.

They actually had someone that was going to remove some of the sand for FREE so there could be a decent channel but the council was going to charge him by the Tonne "go figure" so he decided to pull the plug . Mate i use the tractor at shelley's at christmas just go to shop below RSl and join the local club $80

and you get a key for the tractor. Make sure if not confident about your track off the beach go up to the lookout during the day and have a look where to go as there are a few rocks to watch out for at low tide.
