zen801 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Hi raiders, Went out about 3pm until 6:30pm. Wanted to try the low tide at my spot for a jewie. Again it was quiet until about an hour after low tide when it was getting dark. Started getting some tailor off the bottom. Brought one up not paying much attention and took him off the hook and leant my rod against the rail with the hook and sinker in the water about 1m. There was about 2 sq cm of squid left on the hook. Stuffed around getting organised when i hear the rod pull drag and a clunk. Turned around and the rod was going into the drink and pulling drag. Grabbed the butt and held on whilst she screamed and i assume a big kingie dived for the bottom about 25m down. He probably got half way then nothing - gone. He must of followed the tailor up then hung under the boat. When i dropped the hook and sinker into the water he smashed it. Lesson learnt - dont do that again. Pulled this nice big blue swimmer up 25m and dropped another one. Took him home live for the pot. "Note to self" catch more crabs next year. Man was that sucker tasty. I seemed a lot more fishy last night and weather condition was excellent. Could have stayed longer but dont like fishing too long at night by myself. Cheers all.

Hi Zenman, I was out there by myself yesterday from 5.30am to 1.00pm fished that spot as well for one small throw back pinkie, tried a few other spots for squid and a feed for zilch, I did berly whilst I was anchored and still could not attract anything, my squid baits were just being stipped by pinkies.....the bastards know how to eat around a two hook rig. Im becoming disgruntled with the harbour, I just cant seem to manage a feed. We should organise a fish together mate ,maybe a afternoon session for jews or a beach session. tight lines Marcel Edited May 24, 2008 by twin1

Lots of pickers but still some big kings and jews around. Dropped a jew earlier in the week. Long time between hits and its cold but still some big fish lurking around. In the next week or two we should do a jewie session in boat or beach. Talk soon.
