Timmy76
Hi all, I'm trying to learn how to spot a suitable spot using google earth live map of future beaches I plan to go to. This is a picture of two different local beaches that a friend and I plan on going tomorrow for our very first beach fishing session: Looking at both different beach maps, I should try fishing showing deeper blue colours of bottom and top of map - is that correct? One other thing, is Uni knot good to use for beach fishing? Is this ganged hook casting rig picture how we should set up? Sorry to be a pain, I'm new at this and learning as I go. Hope to hear from you. Cheers

Hope to hear from you. The darker are places of either deeper water or sometimes shallow rocks it all depends on the picture quality and will give you a good indication of where to fish, if possible gain access to higher ground and look for the gutters along the beach, these will be easy to see as they are darker in colouration to the rest of the beach, you can also spot deeper water as you will notice that the wave acti on is somewhat flatter, this is where the fish will congregate, try to target these places the last couple of hours before high tide until a couple of hours after and if you can coincide this with dusk then you are sure to hit fish Onto the rig this is perfect for targeting the bigger fish(tailor and salmon) but you can use this rig with only one hook for most of the other fish on offer just match your hook size to the target fish, i have tried experimenting with paternoster rigs with gang hooks but found my catch rate increased when ifished the running ball sinker rig as shown hope this helps mate tight lines and good luck steve Cheers java script:emoticon('', 'smid_5')
netic
Musty is spot on, Gutters change each day depending on conditions and the best way to decide where to fish on a beach is to monitor the waves and where and how they break....they will indicate where the gutters are.
