Ray R
Okay so here starts the debate, my next purchase will probably be a 4000 Stradic, now one of my fellow fishing friends has suggested the Diawa Sol 3000. So to raiders out there who may have one of these reels, please help me out with some input on either of these ....
slinkymalinky
I have an old model Stradic 4000 and it's been my favourite reel... it's caught kings, longtail tuna, snapper. I just had it serviced by Shimano and had the main bearing replaced after 4 or 5 years of really tough abuse on tough fish, and they did it for free even though I no longer had my receipt.... fantastic after sales service! I've got a new model 5000 with the updated spool profile etc. and it's even better. Fantastic value for money. I'm not a 'Shimano' die hard and haven't fished with the Daiwa. I'm sure they're both great reels and the number of opinions you get on which is best will only be limited by the number of replies you get. If you can't decide any other way, get the one you think looks coolest! Cheers, Slinky
Kirks
Hey mate I ve got a TD Sol 3000 loaded with 20lb tuf xp braided line and this out fit is gold. Great drag, solid and from my personal thought has a pretty cool colour. I am still looking for a rod but have tested it on another and this reel is great i have tested it on kings to 80 cm and couple of giant flatties handled it beautifully. Just my thoughts but the stradic is also a great reel steve Edited June 11, 2008 by Kirkby
