YRELAX
Finally got to hit the beach for the first time in over 12 months. Got out with a few boys from local tackle shop, and arrived at 7.30pm. Water looked great with many gutters running through the beach. Decided to fish in front of the surf club, and after a slow start some big hits started. Unfortunately we couldnt get a hookup. About an hour before high tide a 12kg port jackson was landed. At the change of the tide a lot of weed started coming through and i thought i was fouled up but on retrieval a nice 75cm soapie was landed. We had a few more hits and short runs but no more hook ups. Decided to pull lines at 4.00am. A long night but all worth it in the end. Tight lines YRELAX
yting
Mate that's a great result. I fish that exact spot and am still yet to come up trumps with anything except tailor. Can I ask what bait you were using? I tried all sorts from live squid to fresh tailor slabs.
YRELAX
Mate that's a great result. I fish that exact spot and am still yet to come up trumps with anything except tailor. Can I ask what bait you were using? I tried all sorts from live squid to fresh tailor slabs. Was using salted yakka fillets, which got the PJ, pillies salted and normal, but the jew was caught on frozen squid. Used and pre made jewie 2 hook rig. There was plenty happening last night just couldnt get hook ups on all of them. Be patient, ive put in over 300 hrs for just my second jew. yting
300hrs, that's impressive. I thought my 150+hrs was bad. Looks like I'm due for my first soon then. Nath
humesy
G'day, I had a very similar night to you on the north side. The gutters looked great and there was a perfect amount of swell. Caught a 60cm salmon early on on a squid strip and slabbed him up. I also had 2 runs for no hookups and one bust off above the trace. (likely shark). Weed moved in on the high tide. Full marks for your perseverence (both of you)
