Chappo
G'day Raiders, Finally tried lake Lyell for the first time on Saturday (long weekend) after reading Roffo's report in April where he cleaned up. It didn't dissapoint. With the whole chappo clan on board, we arrived about 9am. We picked a spot that was fairly shallow with a lot weed at our feet. I was the bait boy tending to everyones rod except my own flick stick. It wasn't long before my seven year old son Scott nailed his first rainbow trout on a garden worm. This was quickly followed by another, using rainbow coloured powerbait. Both were just over 25cm. A few flicks around the point with a brown tassie devil saw another "just legal" landed. Then Scotties rod bent over and the drag started humming! This looked like a real fish! Dad couldn't help coming over and adjusting the drag slightly and making sure Scott held the rod tip up. Scotty did the rest by himself and landed a nice 50cm rainbow. Again caught on rainbow coloured powerbait. Shortly after Dad handed the rod to Scott to reel in another just legal rainbow which was returned to fight another day. Things then went quiet around 11.30am and we packed it in about midday. Got to say hello to Roffo, Peter from Go Fish (who seemed to be catching a few) and a few others from the Dural area! Hope you all had a good weekend guys. Chappo Scotts first Rainbow! Hi Chappo, It was great to meet your good self and Young Scotty the pro angler. I would just like to give Scotty a huge pat on the back for the way he fought that 50 , the Dural gang along with myself thought it was great to see Scott giving that 50 some stick. I would think Scott will be hanging to tell his mates tomorrow that he outfished 10 other guy's in the area, We could were cheering him on as he got each fish to the net. It will take weeks to get that smile off his face (how good is that, now he's got the bug). BTW The boys wanted to know if Scott could teach them how to catch trout lol. We on the other hand got one small fish between us after 6 hours, It a great day out anyway. Congrats and great fish Guy's well done, hope we see ya back soon.. Cheers Roffo

Chappo
G'day Roffo. We used up all our luck on the Saturday. Sunday was spent at Jenolan Caves and on Monday we stoppd in at the other spot you mentioned on the other side of the lake with the deep drop off. Only one rainbow trout for about 3 hours fishing and it was way under size. You're right about Scott. We measured his 3 keeper fish up when we got the cabin and he was straight ontto the phone to his grandad. Let us know when you have some more results. Its an awesome spot. We only checked it after reading your great report in April/May. Chappo Hi Chappo, It was great to meet your good self and Young Scotty the pro angler. Chappo
G'day Matt, Yeah, top spot.'Sorry if we were a bit loud, but it was bloody exciting seeing a good sized fish hooked and taking some line. By the way, I saw you guys working the bank on the other side and I was just a little jealous! It looked like you were going to do the whole shoreline with no kids to slow you down!!!!. Was your mate flying? Chappo Hey guys great fish we were fishing lures on the other side of you and saw you land the fish I think all of Lithgow woke up when the fish was landed great stuff , we didnt land any but hey what a top place. well done Cheers Matt Knowing my young bloke, if the sharks make the finals, he'll probably start wearing one! .Well done taking the family for a fish, Top result for the little fella however, imagine the size of the fish he could get into if he upgraded that dragons scarf for a sharkies . Guest GoFish Pete
Well done junior Chappo. I must say it was great to see your young one with a big smile on his face , he certainly was the star of the morning. My achievement was to get bogged within 10minutes of arriving (a BIG thanks to the guy that pulled us out ) I eventually was waved down by Roffo and we settled into a spot next to him , a nice surprise was I saw another 4 Go Fish customers while I was there. With four rods out and between coffee and bacon and egg rolls I did manage to catch a small rainbow it was sent back to grow bigger. I must say that it is a peaceful way to spend a Saturday morning and I will certainly get back up there soon to hopefully improve on my first time efforts. Well done again young Chappo
