Sea-Ducer2 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Just moved to cronulla and in need of some help finding a decent place to store my 6.5m boat safely, can any one help out?
pelican Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 (edited) If it is insured check out what they find acceptable as some of the policies are really strict on where it can be if not on your own property. Some won't do it in some postcodes I found out the other day. Sydney streets can really suck as there are a lot of thieves about and they knock off everything from props to electronics,, spare wheels even whole motors- scum. Can't believe the boats I see sometimes left out and wonder if they have a better insurance company than me or have just never read their policy fine print. There is the usual Kennards or storage places everwhere and on the north shore at Monavale there is actually a boat storage yard. Not open yet but at blackwattle bay a new storage , stacking and marina district is being created in the near future. Are you wanting to launch in Botany bay, Harbou or Pittwater? Unlike other States we have a real lack of clubs or facilities with direct water access from storage for trailer boats and only one smallish dry Stack currently operating. not sure if you are from interstate. Tell what you expect and someone might put their hand up. Cheers Edited June 14, 2008 by pelican
Sea-Ducer2 Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 Insurance will not be a problem, i fish a lot of comps and am a member of gamefishing clubs, what i am looking for is a safe pkace i can park/store the boat while i am living in cronulla. the boat is currently in wollongong, but since i am now here in south syd i would like to have the boat local. i fish out of all ports up here mainly heading wide off shore in chase of big game. i don't really want to leave the boat on a public street, as you said some scum out there will take anything.
double pluggers Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 G-day sea ducer2.There is a couple of those self storage places locally i have noticed with boats parked in them. One on captain cook drive and another on port hacking road.Or maybe someone with enough room would be happy to swap some space for fishing trips.
Sea-Ducer2 Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Ok over the last few weeks i have come to realise that boat storage in the southerland shire is almost non existent, to the point where i am considering buying and setting up a business for storage of van's and boats. i do have a few places lined up but not for a few months. considering the fin are running up here it's killing me not haveing my boat local. is there anyone around the cronulla or surrounding areas that may have a house etc with a patch of land big enough that i could rent off them to store my boat.

Mate, You can join the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Burraneer Bay (Woolaware). There is limited storage of trailer boats at the top carpark ( check with reception), members have access to the club ramp and facilities (nice place for a few ). Home club of PHGFC. Website available. Cheers, Rabs
