Decided to brave the weather on Saturday night.... and try to get a beach session in at the top of the tide, till about 8pm ish...

As you may have all noticed, massive (4m) swell, and a southerly didn't leave me with many options, so I tried fishermans beach, just north of long reef, as it's pretty protected... (by the way, first time i've ever seen this beach actually have waves!?!?!)

Caught 2 Wobbegong sharks and droppped a couple more... about 60ish centimetres.. both released..

but not much else biting given the awful conditions, packed up early... as I felt I was wasting my time...

Now onto my questions...

The sharks didn't really fight at all!! They felt no different to getting snagged, or pulling in sea weed...

seems they just pull hard.. withought really kicking their tails, then release the pressure.. then tighten up again a few metres later etc etc..

Add a really strong current to the equation,. and didn't even know I had anything hooked on (suspected seaweed) until they hit the shore...

Was using 30lb Mono instead of Braid, perhaps that played a part too.. maybe I've become to too used to the sensitivity of braid?!?!?!

Just wanting to hear what other raiders have found with sharks this size, or sharks in general... disappointed that they simply didn't fight!

WARNING: don't tail grip a shark, they try and reach around and bite... hold them any other way and they are the most placid species you can get your hands on...

Well I can guarantee you that in or out of the water they can bite their own tail. There is a classic story of the bloke at Maroubra who got to wear one as a watch for a while.

Thy are a lovely shark and talk about a good disguise.'
