Hawksbury/cowan Drop Offs

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone had any GPS marks for the drop offs around the Hawksbury and Cowan, im hoping to have a test run for some hairtail before the social but have only got a few crappy spots in Pittwater ive heard you can get them in Akuna Bay, Jerusalem Bay and Waratah Bay but I don't know where to fish them....

Any info would be great

Hi Jack.

Only hairtail I've caught was off rocks near palm beach but that was long ago. But you can also get them in the cowan in the bays you mentioned. Do a search and you shall find. Here's a map of the area which shows the drop offs you can try;

we were in 13 metres of water on sat night and did ok, id be trying shallower water as last year that was the go. ill hopefully be out there again on friday night if all goes well trying the shallows.

hey mate thanks for the info on that yeh im hoping to give it a try before the social, where do you recon is worth a shot, and also how the hell do you catch hardy heads ive tried to but its close to impossible.... do you use a net or jut really small hooks?

ive cught them on little hayabusa jigs, i think a poddy trap will work too. try the usual haunts mate jerusalem and coal and candle as well as waratah.

let us know what works mate, i was hopeing to get out friday nite but i need a few repairs done on my boat so ill be struggling thats for sure.

was up the end of juruselam bout 5-30/6-00 sat night and there were hardiheads everywhere.!
