4.30am picked up my fishing buddy hany, dropped the boat in at yowie bay 5.30am,arrived out our usual spot plenty of surface action around, can tell something special was going to happen, anchored up and started to berley put the rods in not long after zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the rods go ballistic, thought it might be a school jew but to our surprise 1 snapper at 51cms and the other at 38cms,this is in the bay not out the heads as you probably can see from the pics.Ended up with 2 lovely snapper,2 bream and 2 tailor not bad morning session

I didn't know you could get reddies that big in the Hacking

thought you you would have to go outside

There's some pretty good eating size snapper you've got there mulloway mick  and the other fish made a real good day of it.

Robbie by the clothing and the beanie gear it looks like the action might have started in the early morning, but then again coming back upriver to the boat ramp in the afternoon can be quite cold. Then there was the suspected jewfish run which could mean the snapper were caught in the river which doesn't surprise me because the larger snapper often hit the deepwater at Burraneer and the eighty foot around the boats at Gunnamatta. Then there's always SW arm to consider........ and Lily pilly to shiprock who knows? but if it was in the river I'll have a go at deepwater thinking about the set up.

Maybe mulloway mick may make it easier for us and let us know only the approximate vicinty.

Well done mulloway mick !!

Cheers

I agree wholeheartedly.

Theres no guarantee the pinkies will be there next time but post your exact spot up and there is a guarantee there will 30 boats there saturday morning.

The Hacking holds a few fish like that (maybe not a lot of 51cm models) in a couple of different spots. Jewgaffer has named most of them. The best part of fishing is working out the right spot in the right conditions with the right bait not copying someone elses homework.LOL

Mind you the pic does show the spot pretty clearly.

Really good :1yikes: mate well done. What did u use for bait.

believe it or not i used chicken fillet that was in the freezer for 3 weeks hahaha thats the truth.had live bait down there and the kingie prefered smelly chicken

I'll have to have a serious think about using a slab of fresh tripe for my next lot of jew baits. :)

Seriously :1yikes:

thanks for posting your report i took my kids to port hacking for the first time for all of us. Put in at grays point after fishing most of upper bays found spot in your photo as headed further east after no real action kids started to get bored . didnt anchor as you guys did just drifted between the points land about 20 pinkys 25 cm plus only 3 over 30cm but 33,35,37cm but that was enough for a feed so was more than happy thanks for your post as it helped make my day
