looking at updating my boat but need to fit it in a rather small garage

can anyone point me in the right direction, to find those trailers that have the drawbar that folds back to reduce the lenght on trailer

google doesnt turn up much!

any advice good or bad on these trailers also welcomed. looking to tow a 550kg 5.4m boat

Dunbier does it and call it "swing around drawbar". It will be on the website. Give them a call and check in which states it is legal and check with a retrofit what engineers cert etc will be required as the last thing you want is an arguement with an insurance company if there is an accident. Many of the american boats have them as it enables them to fit in a container on trailer and bluntly with the system they use I don't know how they get them registered for heavier boats or rough Aussie roads.

There are also some that work like a sleeve ( similar to towbar 75mm box and pin systems) where the whole drawbar slides out when 2 pins are removed. Well at least they can tow your trailer away. Don't know whether they have a name or is just a trailer maker doing it. Check with the RTA technical division - email them as phoneing them could take days on hold- and check what is legal.

Hi Caine, most trailer builders have them and yes Dunbier is one and we have sold a few trailer with swing around drawbars. Be aware that they offer a little less room, but not as much as you think because the bow of the boat still overhangs the front of the trailer when swung around.

They run a large bolt and nylock nut that has to be undone to allow the drawbar to hinge.

I think the Dunbier website would have info on it, if not let me know and I will see if I can dig something up about it.

Cheers,

Huey.

I have run Easytow trailers on my last 2 boats. fold a way draw bar works a treat.

My last one is a full custom single axel, this way I can move it by hand and turn it to fit it across my garage.
