Hi all,

Went out this morning at 9am to get that fish that has busted me off a couple of times recently.

Got to my spot and put down the usual assortment of baits ready for high tide action.

Started slow but as the tide got close to full the sounder started showing huge bait balls coming through with some nice fish following them.

Bites started and again pinkies and yakkas. Got a few hit and misses then a squid strip goes off. I am thinking a nice schoolie but after a decent fight with a couple of runs i boated an 80cm flattie that weighed in at home at 3.8kg.

Yes people we are going to eat this beautiful fish. I let most big flatties go to get bigger but flattie is No1 table fish in my house so for us it was a keeper today.

Started getting some good hits on half pilles and ended up boating 3 school jews around 60cm, Released two of them but the third one didnt make it so i had to keep him. This confirms in my mind that the big hit and bust off recently on a pillie was a big jew. The jewies today couldnt get to the pillie quick enough.

Sounder was showing heaps of fish and there were at times big arcs around the bait balls. The bait balls were probably yakkas as i jagged one. Put him down live but no takers again on the livies.

Left with the fish still biting.

Very good 3 hr session. Trying to make the most of it before they drop off.

Cheers.

Well done Zenman

At least you're getting some decent fish in the harbour.

Hope the flattie tasted great.

I got one the other day and gave half a fillet to a mate. His wife sent him out two days later to get MORE!!

cheers

Good one Mike. Three small jew and a flathead is not too a bad session at all. If the big school jew are up there they seem to have become the Scarlet Pimpernels of Middle Harbour. They seek them upriver and they seek them downriver, so it might pay if you just check out Castlecrag towards Pickering. The breeders tend to hang in together and they could well be in that section, just got to keep looking. Mike I think the two Castles and along towards Northbridge as well might be the go out of the boat traffic at night.

Cheers

Zenman - mate relatively new to this sight but interested to here you have fished the same stretch of water as Humesy. I have spent many many nights chasing jew at that spot - an absolute gem. Have you worked that area in the last week or so. I assume with the bait fish you were further out to sea.

Cheers

 That is a very big Lizard.....

No smokings this week, Mike?

Ceph,

Only smoking was from cigarettes while waiting.

That flattie had the biggest head i have ever seen.

Going back over next few days.

Cheers

Nice work Mike,

You should be an actor. You look like Craig Bellamy in this photo.

Andrew,

I hope he has a big smile like mine on the 2 July.

Mate come on why arent you out there.

I keep looking but dont see ya. Mate its lonely out there chasing the jew all by myself.

I would love to be running midweek missions on fine days. As it is, I have either been working my butt off, cowering inside on wild weather weekends or keeping the :wife: happy. The boat feels neglected and something's gotta give.

Good one Zenman,

That's one monster of a flattie!

I agree, flattie might be boring to fight, but they just taste soooo good.

We tried on Sunday with pillies and no jews for us.

There's no need to justify mate .. well done!
