Ray R Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 G,day Raiders, well today Hutcho and I tried Juno Point and Flint & Steel. We set off early, scored some yakkas and slimeys from West Head and sent them out at Juno firstly and then over at Flint. Well those little livies sat out there for something to enjoy but they were not there today. WE came home empty but was still good to be out there giving it a shot. One day Mr Jewie will be there thn Hutcho and I will be very happy. No action shots today, just one out the back of Hutcho's boat as we left Juno Point..
shefford Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Unlucky about the fish, but looks like it was a bloody great day out, wish i was able to get out
abiasin Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 thats a shame mate, i was not far from juno and managed a flattie first light and a school jew last night in jerusalem bay. next time the jew will be there mate.
jewgaffer Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 (edited) Keep it up Ray. I'm sure you and Hutcho will get onto some good jew up there sooner than later. A no fish report is a good report in more ways than one in that a no fish report from good spots like Juno and Flint and Steel, from blokes who know what they're doing let's othe members know what's going on in the main downriver part of Hawkesbury and gives other alternatives to try such as all parts of Lion and further up river etc. Ray Hutcho's rig looks looks like a well set up rig. Perhaps a trip up river to Berowra with local squid and any slimies left over would be worth a try. Tailor have been on up there and schooling in close by night I believe, another good sign. Cheers jewgaffer Ray thanks for your pm about the movie the Americans were filming when I struck them at Patonga, was that in the eighties or earlier. I can't remember, I used to stay at Patonga a bit and Spencer over those years and earlier as well. Edited June 21, 2008 by jewgaffer
mushtaka Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Thats a bummer Ray, better luck next time mate. I think Juno is not the best spot. i have been there many times and caught nothing. Mate, i was wondering how far the slimmies are off west head? Are they in deep water or on the point? I liked the patonga flatties! Mushtaka
Hodgey Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Although your trip was unproductive today Ray, there was nothing wrong with the view! Nice photo ... great conditions. Next time, mate, next time! Hodgey
squid hunter Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Bad luck champ, Sometimes its just one of those days ya know what im saying. Regards Squid Hunter

copafisher Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Bad luck Ray, we had no luck at Brooklyn either today. At least you caught some fish, even if only bait.. Was thinking to try around Lion Island today but the forecast had Brooklyn looking better (and closer as I was picking the boat up from Huey at Cowan). How does Hutcho find the baitboard/rod holder combo ? I have a similar smaller one but it never seems to sit really stable on the ski pole and the board leaks into the boat right on the back seat. see ya out there some time hopefully (with plenty of fish ) steve
