The Kings Are Still In Town ;)

Took the boat out today with steve to test out the new covers ... god their awesome, decent southerlies blowin all day but couldnt fel a thing up front behind the front and side clears

Back to the fishin - arrive at our usual kingy haunt in the harbour (port jackson area is all i'll say) and started throwin plastics at the markers .. Steves first cast and he's on ... and busted ... in the next three hrs or so the poor bugger got dusted another 3 times (using 30 then 50lb leaders) - Kingfish 4 Stevo 0

On steve's second hook up i tagged up as well, but alas he was also able to escape by pulling the hook out somehow.

Almost ready to call it a day and i even call it as last cast .. and bang im on, luckily he headed up and not down and i got a good early glimpse of him and also saw a 2nd king right next to him tryin to take the lure off him .. (that got steve back into the fight for another 10mins for no luck) anyway after a shortish 5min fight or so a 72cm kingfish was landed - Dale 1 Kingfish 1

So now im gettin ready for some deep fried beer battered kingy chunks for dinner

Were you using the standard plastics?

Any choppers and leatheries being a nuisance?

I think I might take a half day mid week, interested?

Yea .. stevo got all his hits on the blacks, i was on mr pink for the first hit, but landed the second on a 7" green gulp

And no leatheries or choppers to be seen surprisingly, the only plastics lost were lost to fish, however stevo did lose a jig on the bottom

half day could be on the cards, catch ya on email tomorrow

All I got to say is

Mate, You saw me getting dusted a few weeks ago. But when I get my boat back, I have stepped up a couple of LB's to get those bigger kings on board. Hope to catch up soon, and Dale I will be tieing another dozen flies this week whilst I am away with work.

Was a good session and surprising to see the kings STILL firing!

They have been consistant this year since early october!!!

The kings beat me this time... 30lb + 50lb leader

I don't really want to step up as I like to fish the gently gently approach and get more of a buzz from the lighter line buzzing off my spool.

Next time gadget!
