kikila
Just a short report today, I’m to bloody tired for anything in depth. Fished molineaux point again we were there right on first light. We set our livies in place and in quick time had action we got 4 hits 2 solid hook ups in which the hooks pulled both times and both fish had good weight to them. Things went quite for a couple of hours before we got a some more hits and the yakkas came back scaled but Garry was able to stay attached to a salmon of about 58cm that was the end of the action there. We went over to the cans but didn’t stay long it was like Woolworths parking lot, let the yakkas go and went chased some flatties ended up keeping 6 to 55cm all caught on plastic. One thing I had 1 squidgy 5 gram jig head break on me loosing a fish had another straiten loosing another fish{ not happy jan } and I was only fishing 2kg fireline. Hooky.
G'day Chris, good to meet you on the water today. We ended up with a mixed bag as well, mainly flatties and whiting.....a nice feed. Towards the end of our trip we headed over to Bonna Pt and scored a half a dozen whiting to 33cm. Catch 'ya later. Hooky
riders
I can understand being tired.............that sun takes it out of you when you start early in the morning. Any way nothing wrong with a good feed of flatties. riders
mark_s
Congrats Hooky and Kilkila. Think I have to change my tatics for the bay. My original plan was to sneak out after work on Friday night, unfortunately work didn’t finish until after 8pm so the plans were scrapped. Had things to do Sat morning so snuck out Sat arvo. Got to Penryhn st ramp at 4pm to find it dead empty. Launched and headed over to the heads to check out the conditions outside. Was choppy and there was a fair bit of swell rolling in. Decided on a troll along the north side of BB head for the last of the run out tide. Started well inside and slow trolled out to the last outcrop (Cape Baily?) before I chickened out due to the swell. Turned round and trolled back in and then along the blue water/brown water line. No fish but managed to pick up two floats (with full rigs plus) half a road. Headed over towards Watts reef and sounded a big school of bait fish. Quickly picked up two nice sized yakkas and but them straight back out, one under a float and the other 1m on the bottom. Gave it about ¾ of an hour there. The school of yakkas were below me the whole time and mine never got harassed. Up’d anchor and headed over to Moly point, the tide was starting to run in now so I thought there was a chance for something on the livies. Anchored in 13m and put the same two livies out again and burlyed up hard. On my third line I had the usual run of small reddies and some undersize lizards but the yakkas were never touched. I had Moly point to myself for the first time, I guess I know why now. Next I took my livies over to the drums. Only stayed about 30mins as my anchor dragged and I was gunna hit the drums. I released one of the yakkas, but the other was not in good shape so I kept him for my last drop around near the dock. The only bite I had around near the dock was a dead weight on a pilchard tail. Got him about 1/3 of the way up when he let go. I suspect he was a Port Jackson as there was very little fight, just the odd tail thump. Returned to the ramp after dark and went home with tail firmly between legs (again!)
Twosheds
G'day All Thought I'd report my little excursion to Wanda / Nth Cronulla this morning. Headed off early with a mate to pick up a feed of Whiting. Good conditions (maybe a bit breezy) and a nice long gutter to fish had us smacking our lips with anticipation. Live nippers and beach worms on the hook, it was just a matter of throwing back the ones we didn't want......I thought. Not a single bite. I rolled those baits down the length of that gutter till the idea finally stuck in my thick skull that if there were any fish in there they were all on one of Oprah's diets, or they were all over at Coogee watching the Iron Women compete. Ahh well......there's always tomorrow, that's what it's there for.
