G'Day Fishraiders, this is my first post on the site - and is a question - but I think with the knowledge on here it should be a doddle to answer. I also appreciate becoming a member and hope that in the future can add to the discourse. I have a question regarding fishing with little children. I was a keen fisherman when I was a child in SA and haven't really done any since - but I have a 3 y.o. boy and would like to take him fishing.

Now, I would like some advice on where to go fishing with a small cheap rod and hand lines somewhere on the Hawkesbury, Northern Beaches or North Sydney area. Given he is small and I haven't fished for awhile some where easy to get to would be great and then some advice on times and baits etc.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it as he (and myself) are really keen. Thanks and I hope the fish are biting!

hey andy wecome mate this is a great site and you will getall the info, you require here

a 3 year old can be a real hand full and i thought for a long time at to a good spot for the kid

i would sugest narrabeen lake one the northside near the carravan park west off the bridge

this is were i used to take my kids when they were small

there is an exposed sand bank that goes from the bridge to the middle off the lake it had a little bay on one side about 4meters deep and shallow water the uther side

top bait is pink nippers [sand shrimp]or worms

there used to be a tackel shop on monavale road that sold live nippers[not shore now]

fish the deep side for bream flattys and the shallow side for whiting the shallow side use no lead as it is only 1meter deep a good set off sunnys and you can see the whiting comming

hope this helps and feel free to ask as may questions as you feel you need to askthere is over 6000 people just waiting to help
