Guest bluecod
Due to some trouble with the bimini on the boat we eventually got off to a late start, putting in at Parsley Bay at about 6.45. Didn't bother with livies today as we were keen to just troll lures. Basically had the same run out to Terrigal FAD as djmac had yesterday - apart from one small flock of birds looking about 1/2 klm in front of Lion Island the only other birds were solitary lookers until we came across a pod of dolphins about 5klms short of the FAD - some birds were looking at what the dolphins were doing but no fish activity of any kind until we ran some lures past the FAD - one hookup on a dolly of about 2 kilos which spat the hook as he was being lifted aboard. The dollies were at the fad alright but were not interested in trolled lures, but were keen to munch on 40 gm Raiders cast to them - had a bit of fun with dollies to a kilo for about 45 minutes until they became lure shy. About 8 klms out from Lion the surface chop had gone with glassed out conditions until about 11.30 - quite a few bluebottles around with a lot of coral spawn on the surface in some areas. Water until about the 40 fathom mark was around 24.3 but then picked up to 24.6 also changed colour losing its greenish tinge and becoming bluer the further out you went. Trolled from the Terrigal FAD to the Sydney North FAD with about a 3 knot current pushing us along and apart from one small shark basking on the surface, it was like a desert out there. Found some more dollies at a trap on the way back in but they did not want to play. Bit of fun on the dollies and good to get outside again. No pics as the dollies were not something you'd write home about.

Narralakes
Love to give the dollies a go with the fly George, good report BTW. I heard that dollies are the fastest growing fish around, or one of them.
Guest Big-Banana
They are apparently. I think they can grow up to a kilo a month. Pretty fast alright:1yikes:

Pretty fast alright:1yikes: 30064[/snapback] Anthony, That wouldn't surprise me considering some of the things they eat. One or two of the ones we caught disgorged some tiny [3 to 4 mm] baitfish - now if they aren't particularly fussy about the size or what they eat then they are bound to grow quickly. Guest Big-Banana
Well they eat a lot considering. Pretty much every day they are biting on one thing or another. Some smallies were taken on big Yakkas last year while we did some trolling. So if a fish is willing to eat something half its size its bound to grow really quickly. They are quite aggressive as well.
