chocofallon Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi All, Just a quick one. Have gone out searching for Jewies of late and as squid has been very hard to come by I set the plan to get fresh tailor and send them out. Problem is havn't had any luck with the tailor but on both occaisions have landed a couple of big Aussie salmon well 4kg + models anyway. They look like they would be OK to send out a slab but I've been told by a few people to not bother using them as Jew bait. Any thoughts, or experience getting jews on Aussie Salmon? Cheers, Joe
Josh88 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Mate it cant hurt to try if you're normal methods are working then you're gonna have to try something different.
miller Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 hi mate i have had some good results using salmon slabs as bait for jews as long as its fresh cheers miller
zen801 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) Hi, I caught an 8kg 95cm jewie on a high tide around 8pm at Long Reef on a salmon slab/strip. I caught the salmon a week before in the harbour and salted the slabs. So yes it is possible to get jews on salted salmon - go figure. Here is a pic!!!!! Caught him about 2 years ago.
