Sooo happy, the snow has finally come.

I have a family holiday booked on two weeks and I've been watching the snow cam and nearly crying.

But now it's awsome, snow everywhere. Thick, wet base snow. And top ups to come.

In two weeks I'll be carving some awsome white stuff. :yahoo:

Bring on the rock garden!!

Anyone else getting up to the peaks?

Supposed to be a late season but there are a lot of nervous people in the Snowies, even after the last couple of days. I was up fishing at Tantangara on the weekend, which is above the snow line, and it was very warm. They did get 39cm the last couple of days and the snow guns are going well but if follow up snow doesn't come quickly that lovely base is goooooorne.

The SMA are desperate for a good snow season, if not there could be some serious repurcussion for them and the Snowy Lakes

First time up this year will be for a week from the 21st July. Then dependant on conditions will go a few more weekends after that. Stoked that we have finally got some snow but we really do need the follow ups.

Skiing does cost a bit too much ey. But it is largely variable and can be done cheaper than wot most ppl think depending on who u go with and where u go, etc.

For example I dun mind stayin in 2nd rate accomodation and am going with 5 other blokes so my accom will set me back bout $120 for 5 nights. Then lift tickets for a week is $430!!! I have my own skiis and stuff so I save bout $140 there, but then i gotta pay for food and petrol and booz so I am lookin at spending bout $350 there. I will do 5 days for $1000. I wouldn't expect any cheaper thou. I wouldn't see a problem budgeting bout $1300 for a week depending how many go.

On the other hand you could do a weekend trip and stay in a tent and spend bout $500. less value for money but at least u get down there.

I am lucky I have relos livin down there and own my own gear so am able to do it for the cost of petrol and lift tickets alone (and a bottle of red) these days. alhtough i choose not to wen i go down with the blokes.

We are now lookin at gettin 1 metre + of snow from mon-fri this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :1yikes::biggrin2::074::yahoo::thumbup:

One Meter YYYeeess!!

I'm there on Friday night and for the following 6 nights.

It's hard to time it right when you book ahead as we did this year. Normally I just go with my mate when it's goos as he has a house near by. This trip is family time, so it's all a bit different!

I may not be having 3 Hefeweizens for morning tee each day.
