Kirks Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) Hey guys I have loaded up my saltist 50 with 65lb braid (thanks gofish) but now I need a rod for it, it will be used offshore chasing kings as well as chasing cobes, jews and other heavy weight species. I have had a look at the Monster Mesh rods and they seem great for what I am doing. What are your thoughts. I would also like to know if your tackle store have these rods and what the prices are, you can tell me this by pm. thanks a lot Steve Kirkby Edited July 6, 2008 by Kirkby
Le Pasha Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 As you mentioned a Monster Mesh or maybe a Daiwa Saltist 56B also Daniel
slinkymalinky Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Depends what you want to do with it Kirkby. I've got a Saltist 40. I use a Saltist 10-15kg stick (7') when I know I'm not going to be using my downrigger. The extra length is good to steer fish around my motor. When I'm using the downrigger I've been putting it on a T-Curve jig rod (a 24-37kg one last summer which is overkill... just got a lighter one). I find the shorter rod much easier to use with the downrigger.... I can reach the rod tip without taking it out of the rod holder when rigging up etc. The short length makes maneuvering around the motor a bit 'entertaining' at times. Both rods are great. Cheers, Slinky
