sails Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Hi guys, I tried Narra lake yesterday morning on the low high for some blackies on cabbage; had a few downs but no hookups. Pulled some reluctant worms from the middle of Long reef/Dee Why beach during the afternoon low, and revisited Narra lake for some whiting that I had seen that morning. Only had a couple of bites around 4.30 before the bite shut down, but came home with a 1.22kg Blackie measuring almost 45cm, from a fresh worm. Ate it tonight, tasted great! tight lines Sails
Ray R Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Good on ya Sails, so the Blackies didn't eat the weed, but they eat your Whiting worms, glad you got a nice feed, of what sounds like a confused Blackie...
donjuarez Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I've heard that blackies are known to take the occassional worm, and I've heard they take the occasion SP's in Smelt (perhaps mistaking it for a worm?) I haven't tried for blackies in the lake yet(or anywhere for that matter).. I've got the gear, the info, the weed... no I just need to get out there and do it! must make a point of it soon though... Top Blackie! well done!
arpie Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Well done, Cam!! Top conditioned fish!! Awesome - especially on worms!!! usually everything else gets to the worm before a decent fish! Were you fishing with a float, or just light weights? I bet he 'went'???? They should be full on soon on weed & cabbage - Peter/Luderick59 dropped a huge one there recently! Cheerio Roberta
mitch Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Very nice Blackfish from the lake. i used to live near there and would regularly catch them as bycatch while chasing bream and EP's on placcies.....not as big as that one though thats a cracker
