Well, tried fishing with SP's for the first time on Saturday at Crowdy Head (near Taree). Had a few bites, but caught nothing. Iwannajewy caught a blackfish on prawns. Then decided to try our luck at the Manning River yesterday. Iwannajewy had no bait so decided to use an SP and lo and behold, he caught a nice size flatty on his first flick :1fishing1: I had no bites what so ever and Iwannajewy didnt even want to use SP's and he caught the fish, not me. So not fair :mad3:

Hi Mrs' keep trying with the SP's , once you learn to do it right you'll love it , what gear are you using?, light graphite rod, smallish threadline reel, 6lb braid, 8lb flurocarbon leader, couple of 3.5 gram 2/0 jig heads and a few berkley plastics , thats all you need plus time and patience, you'll get amongst them.. Cheers..

Keep going with the softies . A couple of mates and myself went down the south coast yesterday to try our luck with plastic fantastic . It was one of the lads first time using SP as he is a dedicated flyfisher and about 10 minutes before we pulled the pin (he hadnt even had a touch , we'd boated afew fish each ) , he hooked his first fish . Wasn't he stoked when his 85cm flathead came aboard after a fiesty battle !!

Took a quick pic and back she went !

Cheers

At the moment, only using a cheap rod/reel combo that Mriwannajewy bought me at christmas time, until he can get me a new one especially for SP fishing for my birthday. Got some gulp plastics and light jig heads. Only first go at it, so once get a bit better I will get better plastics and jig heads and really get serious :1fishing1:

Good on you for havin' a go, MRS IWJ  That's the first step towards the dreaded 'plastics addiction' that has so many of us firmly in its grip :biggrin2:

Keep chucking your 'Gulps' around whenever you get the chance. I hope you get to post a successful report VERY soon!
