flatty hunter626 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 went for a session tonigh hunting a few jew........was not to be. on the boat and headed out of the gut at around 4.30-5.00pm and staight to the point to collect a few livies.......no yakkas around only managed around 10 tailor all were put staright in the home made bait tank..(was really surprised with it kept all the unused tailor alive to be realeased at the end of the seeion) well anchored just off the 3 pylon from the sydney side at the road bridge.....only to hav the anchor pull twice.......head a little bit further up and let out almost all my anchor rope.....this fixed the lil problem..out with the live and butterflied and a prawn on one rod.......after a large hit and a fight that lasted over 10 minutes a nice shovel nose was boated.....after reading a bit about them on here and seeing people eat them decided to giv it a try.....then as if on cue a butterflied tailor is hit hard......only to pull up another shovel nose!.....well straight in the esky he went!.......after that all went quiet and the catfish set in so an end to the night was called with 2 very healthy looking shovel nose sharks in the esky.......waiting on breakfast or lunch tomorrow to give them a taste. cheers flatty hunter.
SAfisho Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Hey if you want a feed smoke up any unused tailor at the end. Better than shovels.
flatty hunter626 Posted July 11, 2008 Author Posted July 11, 2008 havent tried them smoked but a freshly trolled up green back tailor bled and gutted asap and straight on ice is bloody nice on the BBQ.

the1murph Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 yeh i have been trying for some jewies around hawksbury and broken bay..... haven't had any successes as of yet, we got some last year but haven't even come close this time, it seems that the peckers are tearing up all our baits in about 5mins before a jewie can even see it! Just gotta keep trying Jack
