wazza13974 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 due to the upgrades at tunks park and the temp ramp not really suitable to launch or retrieve on and around low tide could anyone please advise me if collaroy or rosebay ramps are suitable to launch a 6 metre fibreglass boat cheers warren
roosterman Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 collaroy/longreef is not real good so rose bay it is... collaroy/longreef unfortunately will never be upgraded with proper protection due to marine sanctury of the reef headland... its a fun way to sit and relax eating lunch/dinner whatever and watching the dramas of guys using it... if putting in isnt bad enough with the threat of waves going over transom then getting it out is worse... guys usually gun it and beach the boat (not good to do regular with fibreglass) next to ramp then using 4wd dry pull boats onto trailer them away you go.... all too much effort and drama for this little black duck which is a shame with longreef just out the front. the other option is rosevill which is a nice ramp and not that far away,i use this when fishing the harbour..... hope this helps.... cheers....steve....

pelican Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 It's wnter - Roseville isn't that busy and has loads more parking and a more protected ramp than Rose bay. Longreef is a problem in 90 % if you like your boat kept pristine but hell it is convenient access to outside but at 3ton forget it. There is also manly if you can get there early and get a parking spot but I haven't used it since the upgrade - can't quite work out what actual work they did to the ramp? Pel
