Davemmm Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) With a view to setting up a livewell in the Poly I decided to check out how Swordfisherman has his put together. Of couse this soon got extended into an invite to go fishing. First stop Stewey's place and a good look at his Poly. As we were then fishing the greasy rocks of Lugarno next stop was a shopping expedition for rock boots. Then Lugarno, a short hike through a bit of bush and we hit the rocks. As my last outing finished with a major bust off I had to sit down and rig the rod from scratch. By the time I got set up with my dodgy arm Stewey already had one in the bag. This is obviously a good sign I thought (what I should have thought was "this is a good sign for STEWEY"). With the tide in this part of theriver well behind the tide chart we still had a runout going about an hour and a half or so after the prediction. Local knowledge apparently says this spot fires on the run in so after an hour without a hit I wasnt too concerned. A couple of moves along the bank, casting different distance, varying the depth nothing working for me but Stewey now has two in the bag. The tide goes dead and we move around the corner to the surefire spot. With the tide running out things certainly did change (a little bit) Stewey bags another one, i get a touch fianally but no hookup. Then Stewey gets a couple of good downs and I get a nice hit but no hookups. Then Stewey bags another (can you see a pattern emerging here) And another And another Just wasnt my day I got a few more touches but not many. Stewey got a lot more and converted most of them into fish. All up seven keepers and a throw back for the Swordfisherman and a donut to Davemmm Steweys Fish Daves fish And a consolation photo just so I could be in one. Beautiful day on a beautiful part of the river though (or so the cliche goes) Cheers dave Edited July 16, 2008 by davemmm
Guest Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Great day out with you Dave and dont forget you have a bloody broken hand in plaster which is definately a handicap when trying to catch luderick. I really enjoyed the day with you and I cant wait for you to take me up river in your Poly and show me around a few of the spots you talked about they sounded quite interesting !!. Cheers Stewy

Davemmm Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 I heard you "youngsters" were sucking in the big ones as you climbed the rockface to leave The 80 year olds leap out of there with no problem I only had 20 smokes compared to swordys 45. I only pretended to be buggered to make him feel better. Dave

jed38 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Dave, Don't feel so bad about the lack of fish that you caught. I fished down there for the 1st time about 6 weeks ago and although we had some good downs, we bagged zippo, while the guy 10ft away from us bagged 4 in 2hrs.. There must be some special manouvre required when fishing down there, so I'd keep onto Stewy and extract that vital information out of him. Better than working hey, so good luck to you. Cheers Jed.
