locodave
Want to go for a fish, but it does say thunderstorms! Went to the weather link above too. But is the thunder strom coming in the arvo, or is it random through out the day? Anyone planning on heading to broken bay at all?
pelican
Looks like the wind change starts at 11am with 12.30 it strengtthening to a 20knot southerly buster which would likely be the storm front. Southerlys are unpredictable when they come in like that so keep a very close eye on the horizon and be very wary on the water after the wind starts changing direction and temperature. Listen on the radio as they can move up the coast quickly and change in force significantly. As always use mans natural in build weather station "The Ball- chrometer" . If they ain't hanging vertical come in. The older you get the less wind it takes! Early morning looks OK but check the forcasts later tonight Seabreeze looks to have it understated compared to the BOM reports in the boatig weather forcasts and the ports forcast. Make sure you refresh the page if you use the links to get most recent. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN65184.shtml Read the key as to how wind and waves are stated but simple presentation on map. http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDN10023.html Hunter Coastal Waters, Seal Rocks to Broken Bay and 60nm seawards: Strong Wind Warning. pelican
Weather is unpredictable. Still plenty of safe spots with short travel time and early morning to have a fish. If I am out in a small boat without radio you can use your 3g phone to check BOM site to see what time it is expected. Initial front isn't all lightening all the time and quite often can either build or pucker out a bit. Just modify your plans so you have a large safety margin and if uncomfortable come in.
