jim77
Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice about trolling x-raps. I have a couple of x-rap 20s and for some reason they won't stay down when i troll them. I have tried different speeds but over about 6 knots they seem to not swim properly. I thought they could be trolled up to 9 knots? Any advice or tips to get them swimming better? Any particular way of setting them up/rigging them thats works better than others? Cheers jim

Josh88
Hey jim, See if you can pick up anything in these articles. http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-artic...innow-lures.php http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-articles/trolling.php Have a read and you'll probably be able to isolate your problem. Have you been using a loop knot connecting the lure, check the bibs as well incase they're bent out of shape. Cheers Josh
caranx
We use the x-raps 30's and they work fine. How are you rigging them up ? I usually run a split ring and solid ring connector on the front or just a large snap swivel.
Guest Big-Banana
They're a top lure, I troll them at around 10 knots for a few tuna this year. I find they sit very nice when it's a little rougher by using a rubber band and tying it down to the handle so the line tow angle is decreased. jim77
Thanks Anthony and sportfish for the rubber band idea. When i was playing around i did actually try pointing the rod at the lure in the water and it stopped skipping... But i didn't think of lowering the line angle when it was in the holder by using the band technique. There's another simple and easy thing i've learnt from this site.
