Ray R
Hi Raiders, went for a solo fish today as Hutcho had family duties. Went around to the wall at Patonga, the tide was high so I got a bit wet on the walk there. Found a good spot to put my gear down , loaded up a rod with an SP and started flicking in search of a flattie or two. After 20 or so casts I decided to change plastics and had heaps of casts, I threw left, right , middle , all points of the clock, and still no flatties. Changed to a resin head with an Atomic Prong on it and did it again in another likely area , but still they refused to play, I tried fast roll retrieve, a medium roll, a slow roll , one jerk, 2 jerks , 3 jerks, nothing not a touch, more colours different weighted jigheads, evrything.. Okay so now it's game on, I switched to a hard body, I threw and threw for zero, these flatties were winning the battle, I cast short, long, double reverse backhand with pike and still didn't get a touch. A couple of months ago I spoke of a big Raven , he stole my B-B-Q shapes, well he was back again today, out foxed he was though as I put all my goodies in a tupperware container and although he did try ,I beat him and that was my only victory for the day. So after 5 hours I gave in and went home. Sorry for not putting any fish pics up, but I did take a few of some other bits and pieces. Hope I haven't bored you all to death, hopefully I will get a few next time.. Cheers Ray.. Boog's Boat
Hi Ray, We produced the same results as you this morning "0". Had one on and dropped it so it doesn't count. Beautiful morning down patonga though, we fished from 5:30 to 8:30 and the one I had on was only small. There was still a fair bit of diesel in the water from one the trawlers this may have had something to do with it well thats my excuse and I am sticking to it. hobbitt
Yeah Ray, I remember reading your post re: Raven. Good to see you managed to outsmart that bugger Though you caught squat, at least you had the chance to get out and about, which is more than I can say about yours truely. That was my plan, but a phone call from the man saw me rockn' up for a 10hr overtime shift today (6am - 4pm) Still, as usual a great report and great pics. Will keep an eye out for you down there, the missus and I like to fish down that way on week days on my rostered days off, just up from the camping/c'van park. NORBY
Hi Ray, I went out Saturday afternoon chasing flatties at Patonga, Little Box head, Lobster Beach & half tide rocks for a total of one 43cm flattie on a Squidgy Lobby. Fished through Saturday night at Box head with live yakkas for a big zero & started on the flatties again at 5.30 am on Sunday. Fished until 10am without a touch. At least your post makes me feel better knowing I wasn't the only one struggling to get a fish ! Craig

A group of us went fishing off a wharf in Hardys Bay where we always catch snapper, albeit small, and despite a few bites, we only landed one tiny fish in 3 hours plus 1 blue swimmer crab. I did get my first few bites on a Lobby soft plastic so that was exciting. Better conditions next week. Cheers, Kate
Frendy
Hi Ray - this is Frendy who you've seen at this spot a coupla times. I went on the low tide on Sunday & did manage to find a few fish - all returned for another day. Not huge, around 40cm, and they were in really close. Must have been something in the water they didn't like but they were still there. See ya next time, Nick
