Hi guys

Tonights tide should change about 9.30pm & add an hour for every night till the weekend, so 11.30pm for Fri night .... and you are always there for at least 3hrs (as it can take a while for the tide to pick up sufficiently before the prawns actually 'run' ....)

It may have to be the dark of November ...... as the tides for this one may be too late for most to really enjoy.

The Nov 'dark' for prawning is the last weekend in Nov - best times could be the five day period over say, from Wed 26th Nov (approx 8.30pm high tide incl daylight saving) - 30th Nov with 11pm high!! Hopefully find a lake/area that doesn't have a 3hr tide lag like we have here in Forster!

Not sure what the Narrabeen Lakes time lag is ....... but it could be a go-er?

Be daring - have some fun!!

When we 'run', does it mean...they're 'running' out to sea if you're talking about a lake. Or does it just mean when they're active???

Justin :1fishing1:

Bit of both mate, they are running out to sea and they are active aswell. If they're not running they're just not there for you to catch.

Hi Justin

Yep - the prawns make a run to the sea & use the tides to assist them on the way ...... along with every bit of ribbon weed or debris that also floats out! Always shine your torch onto any debris floating past & their little eyes will light up like a beacon, as they are hitching a ride, clinging on hard!

In closed lakes, the prawns still try to 'get out' & have a go, so you should be able to try for them earlier, just so long as it is dark. You can even get them in the day if you can be bothered .... they are usually found hiding in the low tide sandy areas, totally buried in the sand.

I've always understood that the few days to a week prior to & following the 'actual dark' can be as productive as the 'actual dark', as long as the tide is going out & it is dark! Give it a go! Less tiring if you can hit the out tide just on dark!

Cheers

Roberta
